This partnership is built on shared commitment to upholding industry standards and supporting the growth of insurance and takaful professionals.

Through this partnership, BITA will act as ANZIIF's authorized agent in the region, promoting ANZIIF's skills units, insurance education programs and membership to prospective students and members. By working together, ANZIIF and BITA aims to expand professional development opportunities, ensuring that individuals and organizations in the region have access to world-class insurance education.

50th ASEAN Insurance Council Meeting Successfully Concluded In Brunei Darussalam

The 50th ASEAN Insurance Council (AIC) Meeting, held from 26th to 28th November 2024 in The Empire Brunei, has successfully brought together leaders, regulators, and key stakeholders from across the ASEAN insurance and takaful industry. The landmark event, was graced by the Guest of Honor, Yang Mulia Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Khairuddin bin Haji Abdul Hamid, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy, cum Chairman of Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB).


The AIC milestone event celebrated 50 years of regional collaboration and progress in strengthening the insurance and takaful sector’s role in ASEAN’s economic development. Organized by Brunei Insurance and Takaful Association (BITA), this year’s council focused on the theme “Bridging Resilience and Innovation in ASEAN Insurance Landscape”.

Over three days, the conference convened a series of productive meetings and discussions addressing critical aspects of insurance and its social and economic impact on the ASEAN region. The final day concluded with productive bilateral meetings between regulators and industry associations of the regions, providing a platform for focused dialogue and partnership-building.

​

The chairman of BITA, Haji Shahrildin bin Pehin Dato Haji Jaya, remarked, “It was an honor for BITA to host the 50th AIC event for our ASEAN delegates. We had important discussions on regional insurance and takaful matters with the objective to provide more protection opportunities across the ASEAN community. We are thankful and appreciative to all our stakeholders including the insurance and takaful members of BITA and with the valued support from BDCB to make the 50th AIC very memorable.”

As the AIC commemorates this milestone event, the outcomes of the 50th AIC meeting signal a renewed commitment to fostering a sustainable, and forward-looking insurance landscape across the ASEAN region.

BITA Marks 10th Anniversary Year with Insurance and Takaful Day Celebration

BITA celebrated Insurance and Takaful Day on 10th November 2023, marking a significant milestone as the marking a significant milestone as the association enters its 10th anniversary year. 

 

The event was graced by Yang Mulia Puan Hajah Noorafidah binti Sulaiman, Acting Managing Director of Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB), and officiated with welcoming remarks by Yang Mulia Haji Shahrildin bin Pehin Orang Kaya Lela Utama Dato Paduka Haji Jaya, Chairman of BITA.

Since its establishment in 2013, BITA has served as the collective voice of the insurance and takaful industry in Brunei Darussalam, representing companies, employees, and authorized agents. As it enters its next decade, BITA remains committed to being a forum for discussion, cooperation, and innovation in building a resilient and sustainable insurance and takaful sector.

Insurance and Takaful Day 2022

The Brunei Insurance & Takaful Association (BITA) recently celebrated Insurance and Takaful day 2022 with the theme "Ensuring Together: Health, Wellness & protection for All". The event, held at atrium of Times Square Shopping Complex, Berakas, focused on raising awareness of the importance of healthcare and insurance/takaful protection.

The Guest of Honour was Yang Mulia Puan Hajah Rokiah binti Haji Badar, Managing Director of the Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB). The event was launched with welcoming remarks by Yang Mulia Tuan Haji Shahrildin bin POKLU DP Haji Jaya, Chairman of BITA.

Prize Presentation Ceremony for Drawing Competition 2021

The Brunei Insurance & Takaful Association (BITA) hosted a Prize Presentation Ceremony for the winners of BITA Drawing and Painting Competition held in conjunction with Insurance and Takaful Day 2021.

​

Organized by the BITA Financial Literacy and Awareness Sub Committee (FLASC), the competition invited participants to submit artworks under the theme "Life in the New Normal". A total of 35 entries were received across three age categories, with 12 winners selected. Each winner received a certificate and cash prize.

​

The winning artworks will be exhibited at the Atrium of the Ministry of Finance & Economy Building until 05 July 2021 and also featured in BITA's 2022 calendar

​

Prizes were presented by Mr. Klaus Tomalla, Chairman of BITA, who commended the creativity of all participants.

Brunei EV Showcase 2021

On 25th March 2021, BITA was among one of the participants in the Brunei EV showcase 2021 which sees the launch of the EV Pilot Project by the
Ministry of Transport and Info Communication.

BITA participating the four days event as an exhibitors, hope to promote awareness on EV Insurance & Takaful and Motor Claims Guideline.

Donations to Support COVID-19 Curbing Effort

On 05th May 2020, BITA was among other donors that presented contributions / donations to Ministry of Health (MoH) with hopes of assisting the Government of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, especially the MoH, in curbing the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

​

BITA Acting Chairman, Klaus Tomalla accompanied by BITA Secretary, Haji Darryl Aidin Bin Haji Maidin presented a cheque amount to BND$5,000 which is received by Senior Special Duties Officer of the Department of Healthcare Technology Rudy bin Haji Harun on behalf of the MoH
