MANDATORY MEDICAL INSURANCE/TAKAFUL FOR IMMIGRATION PASS HOLDERS

Public Statement, 30 June 2025 -
Effective 01st July 2025, immigration pass holders under listed categories will be required to have medical insurance/takaful coverage as part of their immigration pass application or renewal process. This requirement applies to the category of immigration pass holders listed below:
Type of Immigration Pass and Entry Permits | Coverage Period | Sum of Coverage |
Employment Pass – Domestic Worker | Validity of Employment Pass | Minimum B$100,000 |
Social Visit Visa | Validity of visit visa | Minimum B$10,000 |
Professional Visit Visa and Business Visit Visa | Validity of visit visa | Minimum B$10,000 (for visit up to 90 days)
Minimum B$100,000 (for visits more than 90 days) |
Permanent Resident (holders of Entry Visa) under category of Foreign Nationals contributing to the Economy, Development, and Progress of the Country and Professional | Validity of visit visa | Minimum B$100,000 |
BITA encourages all affected individuals and employers to consult with licensed insurance companies and takaful operators in Brunei to explore suitable medical insurance/takaful plans that comply with the new requirement. These plans are accessible through various channel, depending on insurers, includes:
· Direct purchase from insurers (i.e., walk-in)
· Digital Platform (e.g., Website, Mobile Apps, WhatsApp)
· Registered and authorized insurance & takaful agent
· Licensed insurance brokers
